There’s a selection of super sharing platters and classic mains to enjoy in the smart, modern restaurant, and tasty snacks to accompany your pint in the bar.

The bar area also houses a deli counter, showcasing local produce such as the cheeses from our Ploughman’s Lunch. Perfect for enjoying a taste of The Abbey, even after you leave...

The Starters Menu

Our imaginative starter menu is designed so not only can you indulge in a tasty beginning to your meal, but can be used in the style of a tapas menu. By selecting a few smaller plates for yourself or to share, is a great way to dine. Choose a nibbling pot of calamari, chicken skewers or pigs in blankets, or share an ant -past or mezze board, don’t forget to try our house speciality three cheese fondue with chunks of country bread & glazed ham.

Lunch Menu

The lunch menu serves classic English dishes such as beer battered cod & chips, chef’s homemade fishcakes and honey roasted ham, egg and chips. Or choose a delicious ploughman’s lunch with local cheeses, honey & mustard roasted ham or today’s  pork pie selection from our deli counter, we also offer a sandwich menu served with rustic chips or homemade soup.


Main Menu

The main menu is served all day, so if you want a more substantial meal such as a Battle burger, chargrilled steak, roasted lamb or pork dish these are also available, to compliment these dishes our chef’s create daily specials using seasonal produce. 

Dessert Menu

If after two fabulous courses you have space we serve a wide variety of desserts to tickle your taste buds and give you a much needed sugar rush after your main course, all made by our team of chefs. Try our ‘heaven in a jar’ or ‘chocolate fondue’ served with chunks of brownie, homemade honeycomb, shortbread biscuits, fresh strawberries & yummy marshmallows. If you haven’t got room for a desert check out our ice-cream menu with flavours such as cinnamon, rum & raisin & salted caramel.


If you like to scoff cheese & port then you’ve come to the right place, there are few establishments that can compete with the standard of our cheeseboards, accompanied by a selection of crackers, pickles, olives & your choice of chutneys, all on display at the deli counter. Choose your board, cheese, chutney & start munching!

Sunday Roast

We serve a traditional Sunday roast based on the one my mother cooked for my sister and I as children. This of course means great quality meat from the local butcher, large homemade Yorkshire pudding served with every meat, sage onion stuffing, a good selection of vegetables, with cauliflower cheese being a must, roast parsnips glazed with honey, tasty roast potatoes cooked in meat juices & rosemary from our garden, finished this with chef Brendon's secret gravy. Of course the plate should be heaped with all of the above to give that full Sunday afternoon feeling, Enjoy!

Espresso Beans 

Our Roasted Espresso blend is made up of the Brazilian, Honduras, Ethiopian and Tanzanian beans. A punchy espresso with a thick syrupy texture, heavy bodied and with great depth of flavour, this blend works particularly well through milky lattes or cappuccinos. A mocha based coffee with floral notes and black berry like flavours that develop into dark chocolate notes at the finish.

Decaffeinated Coffee

All our coffee varieties can be decaffeinated, we use a blend of Central American coffee with caffeine extracted using a special water steaming process. Dark roasted to develop the fruity sweetness of a Central American coffee.

The Abbey Hotel is justifiably proud of serving traditional afternoon teas in all their glory in our dining room. A perfect setting for friends to catch up on gossip or a mother and daughters to get together, a real treat for birthdays, baby showers, mother’s day or any day!

Fusion tea flavours

English Breakfast

This blend is far from ordinary. Blended with three different Assam leaf, it delivers a well-rounded full bodied breakfast tea. Only the finest tea estates are used to select this blend which is truly exceptional.

Sapphire Earl Grey

This tea is given an innovative twist to the traditional recipe with bergamot and blue malva flowers. This Earl Grey can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

Dragonwell Green

Organic Jasmine

A floral, aromatic Chinese green tea, delicately scented with jasmine petals. The distinctive, light and smooth flavour has been enjoyed for centuries and remains a favourite.

Spiced Chai

Chai is a blend of robust black Indian teas, combined with exotic spices. Chai is synonymous with Tea in South Asia and to fully enjoy this traditional Indian beverage, add milk and sugar. Its exotic aroma and punchy tea delivers a wonderful flavour, perfect for an afternoon pick me up.

Citrus Chamomile

Since early Greco-Roman period, the calming and soothing qualities of Chamomile have been well known. This caffeine-free blend of Chamomile is enhanced with delightful flavour of lemongrass. The result is a mellow citrus delight.

Persian Pomegranate

Capturing the unique flavour of one of the world’s oldest fruits, Persian Pomegranate delivers a succulent herbal infusion. Pomegranate is a super fruit which is high in antioxidants, accounting for it's recent popularity amongst the health conscious.

Spicy Rooibos

Caffeine free super grade Rooibos blend with Brazilian red pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and a hint of orange. It is fresh with subtle warming spice notes, a real energiser and afternoon treat.

White Mulled Wine

White Mulled Wine is a different take on Christmas tea. A pleasant and vibrant taste of white wine with a fresh lemon zest finish and subtle hints of Christmas spices. A well-rounded and delicious herbal tea which is caffeine free. A real winter warmer and full of festive cheer!

Decaffeinated Tea

Award winning Ceylon from Kenilworth Estate, deep in the mountains of Sri Lanka, is famous for its bright reddish colours, rich and smooth taste and nutty character. This Ceylon is naturally decaffeinated to ensure all that award winning flavour remains intact. A pleasant and light tea to be enjoyed throughout the day.
